If you ever get the opportunity to attend a book signing for Shannon Hale, let me give you one piece of very important advice: arrive early. I was late. Only about 5-7 minutes late, and there was no room to get a good spot to listen to Shannon speak. (I blame my husband for making me late.) I came armed with a voice recorder so I wouldn’t miss a single important detail…but alas. I was crushed; this is the first time that I can remember Shannon doing a solo event for one of her books. Last time I saw her, she was participating on an author panel, but even then she made a lasting impression on me and I have been a fan of hers ever since. Seriously, she’s hilarious and adorable.
King’s English totally got in character, showing a screening of Pride and Prejudice to entertain those waiting in line for books to be signed. Some were even dressed in Regency attire, adding a whole new level of fun to this already delightful event.
I have 1 copy of Midnight in Austenland to give away, and it is a signed copy! Thank you to Shannon’s awesome publisher, Bloomsbury USA, for providing the prize.

February 6, 2012 at 1:19 pmIt’s hard to pick a favorite book by Shannon Hale. Princess Academy and Goose Girl are two that I often recommend to friends.
Similarly, it’s hard to pick a favorite Jane Austen heroine. Elizabeth Bennett is the most memorable for me.
