Paranormal bounty hunter Rachel Morgan and her friends are back in the 10th book in the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. Although Rachel is currently not using magic and her demon master thinks she is dead, Rachel is the prime suspect in a bunch of gruesome murders that are taking place all over Cincinnati. To gain back some of her independence, Rachel makes a deal with an unknown dead vamp to find out who is committing the ghastly crimes.
Rachel learns just a little too late who is behind the crimes: a hate group that is dead set on creating demons to destroy all Inderlanders. Because Rachel herself is a demon and not a witch, her blood is the exact thing they need.
I just can’t get enough of Rachel Morgan and all of her Inderlander friends! This has been my favorite urban fantasy series since I first discovered it a few years ago by chance in a Barnes & Noble, and I memorize the release dates so that I can have each new book when it comes out.
Rachel often drives fans crazy because she is impulsive, childish, and often makes really poor decisions. I thought that in A Perfect Blood she showed more maturity, and a willingness to leave the past behind her and move forward. I’m a little sad that Rachel feels that Ivy (her living vamp business partner) and Jenks (her pixie partner) are moving on with their own lives, but I think they will always be there for one another.
Trent Kalamack, who is often at odds with Rachel, won me over just a little bit in this book. I have never thought of him as a romantic interest for Rachel, but I can easily see that coming in the near future. He’s pretty crooked at times, but I really noticed something different about him in A Perfect Blood. This may have been Kim Harrison’s plan all along to bring them together, and I love that she has taken her time to really develop and explore the relationship between the two. Far too often, Rachel jumps into relationships without giving it much thought, and it’s usually a really bad idea.
There isn’t much of Rachel’s demon “friend” Algaliarept (Al) in this book, but fans of his can definitely expect to see a lot more of him in future books. The ending of A Perfect Blood just might send shivers up your spine; it proves that Kim Harrison definitely has more story to tell, and that we can expect to see many more Rachel Morgan books in the years to come!
A Perfect Blood is available in bookstores February 21, 2012!

And when you do catch up, I want to hear all about it!!

February 20, 2012 at 6:43 amI just wish I liked the supernatural theme! I think some of the characters and stories would be wonderful, but for some reason I just don’t care for the otherworld thing.
